The rabbits passed this way.............. |
| On Saturday 17 June 2006 Dennyside Bowling Association visited Borough Park. Formed in 1936 by Mr. Leonard Denny this was originally a team of international bowlers who he called the rabbits. Dennyside B.A. plays eighteen or so charity matches per year and raises thousands of pounds for charity. Traditionally the president of the host club nominates the charity to benefit and Borough Park president Ernie Douglass chose the Great North Air Ambulance. After the game players enjoyed a salad tea provided by the Borough Park ladies. Thank you ladies. The teams had played a game of 21 ends, 6 rinks per team. Borough park only managed to win on one rink but the winner on the day was the Great North Air Ambulance. A tray collection and raffle raised just under £2000. The Dennyside B.A. topped this up to ensure the charity would receive the full two thousand pounds. Club president Ernie Douglass thanked the members of Dennyside and all present for their generosity. Below
are some pictures of the day, kindly taken by Charlie Gilmour who was
playing on rink 2. You forgot to take one of yourself Charlie!
